- mince onion and bell pepper in food processor.
- brown ground beef and season with salt, pepper, & garlic powder. add onion and bell pepper. you can put a dash of red pepper flakes for a Lil kick..
- when ground beef is done, drain grease.... don't rinse..
- if not using packaged rice you can fix rice yourself by using 1 cup rice and 2 cups water or broth. I use my rice cooker while browning the ground beef. it also can be cooked. in a pot..
- * I have added 2 cups of rice cooked in the rice cooker. if you do this drain hamburger and rinse slightly. add directly to ground beef and mix well..
- IF USING PACKAGED RICE.... add a pkg of yellow rice and following the instructions on pkg. use beef broth and don't add butter or margerine because of the oil left on the meat..
- put a lid and let simmer. if it looks dry add more broth. if using cooked rice mix rice in well and let heat through..
- it is done when rice is tender... when tasting decide if you need more salt, pepper, or garlic powder..
- * my Hubby likes a can of diced tomatoes add to it but it is not really dirty rice. if you taste and feel it is to tart from tomato add 1 tsp of white sugar..
